Feature changed by: Satoru Matsumoto (HeliosReds) Feature #308307, revision 6 Title: Developers help translators with screenshots - openSUSE-11.3: Unconfirmed + openSUSE Distribution: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Desirable Requested by: Kálmán Kéménczy (kkemenczy) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: Translating GUI is not easy task. This is not a simple translation but localization. We would like to provide usable interface for non-english users. Developers could help a lot if they could create screenshots to help translator's work. This screenshots could upload somewhere in opensuse filesystem infrastructure and developers could put the screenshot URL in the source code as translation comment. Translators could easliy find out the right phrase, can coose right hot keys and this could speed up the translation and leverage the quality. Discussion: #1: Freek de Kruijf (fdekruijf) (2009-11-05 17:44:55) I second this feature, but it needs support in lokalize, so lokalize is opening the screenshot in some window, clicking on it will enlarge it, and clicking on it again will bring it back to the small window. #3: Kálmán Kéménczy (kkemenczy) (2009-11-05 20:11:38) (reply to #1) I can click on the URL and it appear in the browser, this is good enough for me #2: Jean Cayron (jeancayron) (2009-11-05 18:38:32) An other idea is also to provide some wiki page on opensuse.org that describe what the po files from the opensuse project are for. In yast, for example, there are loads of modules that appear completely obscure to non-technician as me: audit-laf, CASA, drbd, etc... What's the hell for??? #4: Carlos Robinson (robin_listas) (2009-11-05 20:47:19) ¡Yes! This would be a most wanted help for translators. Some devs do not even write comments, and we have to make wild guesses as to what is intended of us. As to where and how to put it, well, either a fixed webpage or a wiki page with the same name as the .pot file, somewhere in the svn server, or nearby. Explanations of intent, screenshots, etc. And posibility to add comments. + #5: Satoru Matsumoto (heliosreds) (2010-12-20 15:49:35) + Since openSUSE 11.3 has been already released, I've changed the target + product from 11.3 to distribution. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/308307
