Feature changed by: Will Stephenson (wstephenson) Feature #308604, revision 11 Title: native multitouch x11 support openSUSE-11.3: Evaluation Priority Requester: Important - Info Provider: (Novell) Requested by: cristian díaz (moldavio) Description: native multitouch x11 support Discussion: #1: Todd R (theblackcat) (2010-01-05 18:16:24) I think this is an upstream X11 issue that. #2: Markus K (kamikazow) (2010-01-12 02:54:21) (reply to #1) Upstream X.org developers are paid by someone. IIRC that feature was developed by a Novell employee. #3: Vincent Untz (vuntz) (2010-02-10 19:18:29) To have the native multitouch support, we need: * a recent X (I guess this should be okay?) * support in toolkits: gtk+ is done in a git branch (I doubt we want to ship a branch, though), not sure about qt * support in apps Carlos' blog has some information about the status of multitouch in GTK+: http://blogs.gnome.org/carlosg/ #4: Vincent Untz (vuntz) (2010-04-07 18:01:52) (reply to #3) The support should land in the next major version of GTK+ (so it should be in for the release after openSUSE 11.3) #5: Michael Löffler (michl19) (2010-05-12 12:33:05) (reply to #4) That's the GNOME side of life, right? Will how does it look alike for KDE? #6: Will Stephenson (wstephenson) (2010-05-12 13:25:11) (reply to #5) Qt has implemented multitouch and supporting gestures in a branch but are waiting for Xorg "to standardise the feature" before it is merged. I'm not sure what that means. Plasma supports multitouch for widget manipulation already, and multitouch zoom works in most KDE apps (on eg Windows where Qt has multitouch...). -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/308604
