Feature changed by: Robert Davies (robopensuse) Feature #306006, revision 14 Title: btrfs in openSUSE openSUSE-11.2: Rejected by Stephan Kulow (coolo) reject date: 2009-03-30 20:38:31 reject reason: already in kernel. Priority Requester: Important openSUSE-11.3: New Priority Requester: Important Requested by: Marek Stopka (m4r3k) Description: I think it is time to make btrfs as a part of upcoming openSUSE 11.2, probably with BIG warning but still there should be possibility to use btrfs and even better with some kind of integration in YaST disk module... Fedora is going for btrfs with next release either. Discussion: #1: Jan Engelhardt (jengelh) (2009-03-07 03:13:39) It will automatically be available by means of the new kernel. Now just to add the string in the list of offered filesystems in yast2, plus said dialog and installation of btrfsprogs, and you are (hopefully) done. #2: Marek Stopka (m4r3k) (2009-03-20 06:38:07) (reply to #1) Ok, thanks maybe I will create a patch on my own :D I wanted to look inside YaST someday anyway :-) #4: Wyatt Gosling (beachchairs) (2009-11-04 23:49:14) (reply to #1) While it is in the Kernel, the system does not have the tools to mount it at boot yet. #5: Jan Engelhardt (jengelh) (2009-11-07 01:49:11) (reply to #4) Nonsense. In fact, I have a 11.1 install image in a virtual machine that has btrfs as a rootfs, and as a matter of fact, btrfsprogs is not even installed. And yet it works. #3: Stephan Kulow (coolo) (2009-03-30 20:38:20) btrfs is in the kernel already, but highly experimental and as such having it in yast as install option is no option at its current state. If someone wants to work on a patch to support bootloader, etc - go ahead, but as such the feature is pointless I'd think. #6: Arvin Schnell (aschnell) (2009-11-07 09:44:50) Note: I have added minimal experimental btrfs support to YaST as feature #306587. But btrfs for root is broken, see bnc #543801. Btrfs for boot surely does not work. + #7: Robert Davies (robopensuse) (2009-11-30 20:05:15) + This looks done to me, in 11.2 the YaST partitioner did indeed permit + btrfs as an option with a big "unsupported" experimental feature + warning. The "rejected for 11.2" status seems incorrect! -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/306006
