Feature added by: mao huanxue (vsu) Feature #308145, revision 1 Title: Use Zypper create OSI (for offline installlation) openSUSE-11.3: Unconfirmed Priority Requester: Desirable Requested by: mao huanxue (vsu) Partner organization: openSUSE.org Description: Zypper can generate new osi package for install from the system which has the applications installed already, or from repos. In this way, the packages is easy to share, more than easy to install. Especially for the PCs which is offline or maybe we should have a Web-Application to generate OSI packages (so users can generate their own osi packages for offline install). Make Packages: Easy to Share Easy to Install (More than RPMs only) Easy to Deal With (Dependencies) Use Case: Share Packages Backup Packages Offline use Business case (Partner benefit): openSUSE.org: With zypper and online repos, we can install applications very easy. but how about an offline PC ? Have to search and download RPMs ? (oh no, the dependencies are not easy to deal with) How about enable the zypper to create OSI (see also http://en.opensuse.org/OSI ) from the system which has the application installed already, or from repos. then If we got a nice application, and want to share with our friends or to backup. it is very easy to generate an OSI , for example: mp3codecs.osi then share them with usb drives.
