Feature changed by: Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger) Feature #306768, revision 8 Title: Module in YaST2 for System Cleanup - openSUSE-11.2: Unconfirmed + openSUSE-11.2: Rejected by Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger) + reject date: 2009-08-12 14:28:39 + reject reason: not possible for 11.2. Priority Requester: Important Requested by: John Shand (jshand2008) Description: 1. This module would in effect, check, verify and remove orphaned rpm software from the computer along with removing all their entries in the software database. On verifying the above, it would warn you of any other dependencies requiring those rpms/files etc. With this module you could run it manually as well. This would be extremely useful as i install and test a lot of software everyday and i'm left with heaps of unused software afterwards. 2. This module would also check for duplicate files, unneeded files and other files that are taking up valuable space and remove them without causing system damage by deleting what the system needs to run smoothly. 3. It would be good to have an option in the module to enable periodic scheduling to match the users needs. 4. This may or may not be a security issue, but would prefer it to be used by administrators only. Discussion: #1: Rémy Marquis (spyhawk) (2009-07-11 12:05:47) For #1 : Duplicate of Feature 300758 (300758) . Not sure abour the others request. #2: Stanley Miller (stan_qaz) (2009-08-01 01:16:56) Cleanup features something like? http://lizards.opensuse.org/2009/07/17/updated-package-bleachbit/ #3: John Shand (jshand2008) (2009-08-02 13:46:13) (reply to #2) no, not like that application, because what i'm hoping for is a system- wide cleaner. + #4: Andreas Jaeger (a_jaeger) (2009-08-12 14:28:30) (reply to #3) + From what I read here, this sounds too hard. If you have an easy + algorithm, please provide it. -- openSUSE Feature: https://features.opensuse.org/306768
