Hello team, this is not related to the JUMP https://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-project/2020-04/msg00002.html! It's an effort to document happening behind the scenes when it comes to submit requests to openSUSE Leap packages with SLE origin. We have to deal with these requests about twice a week. So better to have it documented. Just to give you some background: Part of openSUSE Leap responsibilities of https://en.opensuse.org/openSUSE:Release_team is to perform origin reviews. These reviews are here to control changes of package origin in openSUSE Leap. Such can be that origin of packages changes from openSUSE Leap 15.X updates to Factory or newer Leap (X+n). However, when we're updating package with SLE origin, the change has to happen initially in SLE. And this is when we're currently not doing the best job on being transparent. Another case when I see these requests is when somebody reaches out to us on irc, or creates a bug placeholder for in fact a feature request. Following document is supposed to provide some guidance in this regard: https://en.opensuse.org/index.php?title=Portal:Leap/SLEFeatureRequests The short time vision is that requesets from community members will not be ingored for weeks or even months and will have increased visibility on the SLE side. Longer term vision (Autumn 2020 -ish) is to have a transparent process to request features/updates, where contributors will be able to see updates on the request. This document will hopefully improve over the time as we improve the process. I'll be happy for any feedback or corrections.
