I just installed NET on a 12 year old Vaio laptop. Extra details are in an unrelated bug report I filed: https://bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1135723 Zypper seems to say it's installed: i | ModemManager | package | 1.6.12-lp151.2.4 | x86_64 | OSS i | ModemManager-bash-completion | package | 1.6.12-lp151.2.4 | x86_64 | OSS i | ModemManager-lang | package | 1.6.12-lp151.2.4 | noarch | OSS i | libKF5ModemManagerQt6 | package | 5.55.0-lp151.1.1 | x86_64 | OSS i+ | ppp-modem | package | 2.4.7-lp151.4.3 | noarch | OSS I used http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/ and http://linmodems.technion.ac.il/packages/scanModem.gz to get to http://www.linuxant.com/drivers/hsf/oem/index.php to get the applicable 14f1:2c06 HFSMODEM high definition driver http://www.linuxant.com/alsa-driver/archive/alsa-driver-linuxant-1.0.23.1/al... I think I may have done all that's needed to use the modem, but I see nothing about modems in the LXQt menu. # which ppp-modem which: no ppp-modem in (/sbin:/usr/sbin:/usr/local/sbin:/root/bin:/usr/local/bin:/usr/bin:/bin) # which ModemManager /usr/sbin/ModemManager # ModemManager ModemManager[5719]: <info> ModemManager (version 1.6.12) starting in system bus... Is NetworkManager with ethernet cable plugged into eth0 somehow blocking MM? I'm getting the idea POTS modem support is absent from openSUSE. :-( -- Evolution as taught in public schools is religion, not science. Team OS/2 ** Reg. Linux User #211409 ** a11y rocks!
