I do. But not on Linux

My .sh scripts also have to run on ancient AIX and HP-UX, and neither
comes with bash.

Whenever I need more in a shell-script than old bourne syntax, I turn
to perl. I /think/ I never wrote a sh/bash script that even uses $()
