That sounds like the bug I have since months: Press Ctlr+Alt+F7 to switch to the correct virtual terminal to get the password prompt. See: https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=1020283 Perhaps you may want to leave a comment there. Cheers, Robby. -- On Freitag, 23. Juni 2017 10:58:10 CEST Michael Aquilina wrote:
I have tried this several times from a fresh install (Tumbleweed ISO) and after upgrading from Leap. In both cases, I have an encrypted LVM volume that contains system-root, system-home and swap.
The machine boots correctly to GRUB but gets stuck at what seems to be plymouth (I think? - it's the loader showing the Tumbleweed background). Usually at this stage I would get a prompt for my password to decrypt the drive but that simply never shows up. I noticed that for a split second I get the error message "sed_opal:OPAL: Error on step function 0 with error 16386: Unknown Error".
If I wait long enough I get put into a prompt starting with `dracut/` which seems to be some form of shell.
If I install from with a non-encrypted setup, Tumbleweed installs and loads up correctly. Also, installing Leap (with and without an encrypted setup) works fine so it seems to be a Tumbleweed issue with an ecrypted setup.
My laptop is a Dell XPS 13 (2016).
Any help or pointers for how I can debug the issue would be greatly appreciated!
Thanks! Mike
