Note the SLE also upgrades packages. The ~1000 package updates in SP2 weren't minor at all.
Do they also remove packages? Like it's currently discussed about ruby 2.1 and 2.3 or kde4?
Yes

Though this list looks very short, well documented and hits only very specialized modules. I don't see that they would remove whole scripting languages (PATHs which users may use as shebang) or whole desktop-suites.
SLES doesn't have desktop suites to remove. They only have GNOME. There is no KDE4 to remove. There is no KDE5. There is no xfce, enlightenment, lxde. There is only GNOME SLES doesn't have whole scripting languages to remove SLE (SLES+SLED+more) is something like 2500 packages vs openSUSE Leap which is approaching 10000 packages Being 4 times bigger means there's going to be at least 4 times the number of examples of hard decisions like deprecations or version upgrades in order to be able to deliver something that works as a coherent distribution. openSUSE Leap is a more complex distribution than SLE, to make things all work together we either have to make the hard decisions to not move things (which then has people complain its too old) or the hard decisions to move things (which then has people complain about changes, removals of packages, etc) It's a fact of life, your understanding & support would be beneficial and would be appreciated. Your contributions to help deal with any issues that affect you are appreciated even more. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
