One last thing before really running out of ideas. Tried unplugging a monitor (try secondary?) and see if screenlocker shows up? It's a bit ugly but it worked last time I tried it (don't really remember).
The bug Cor found looks like being the issue. So I'll wait for the next kernels or use an older kernel. I also switched off monitor energy saving as Ian suggested (I didn't knew about the dialog), after lunch I'll report if this helped.
