To save my sanity, is there a way, in tumbleweed, to either 1. Restore kdepim to 5.2.x to get rid of reliance on qtwebengine 2. Install nvidia and lock kernel/nvidia from updates?
# zypper al kernel-d* # zypper al nvidiadriverpackagenamewhateveritisthatIneveruse
3. Any other solution that still uses kmail/kontact.
For me, kmail stays alive for a few seconds or upto a minute or two. If i can get kmail up long enough to write/reply to an email, its doesn't crash. It all seems to be happening when clicking on a new folder or email to read and sometimes it just crashes when left alone for a while.
This bug report seems to point to a threading issue - https:// bugzilla.opensuse.org/show_bug.cgi?id=997171
Try driver #3. Purge both nvidia and nouveau drivers from your installation, and ensure kernel cmdline does not include anything to defeat KMS. The result is the modesetting driver integral to the X server should be used automatically unless your nvidia gfxchip is too new or too old.

I've got a feeling its too old, GT218 (Geforce 210)
Thanks for the info, i'll look into it
I shop for cards on closeout, that way I can get a newer card for less then 1/4 of the original price. But then I don't play games that require high end graphics. -- Ken linux since 1994 S.u.S.E./openSUSE since 1996 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
