Hello! Do you want to get a taste of the classic/traditional UNIX desktop environment on your bleeding-edge Tumbleweed distribution? CDE (Common Desktop Environment) was jointly developed by HP, IBM, SUN, and others. It was the iconic desktop for various UNIX workstations. Although CDE used to be proprietary software, its source code has recently released under LGPL, and the code base is now actively maintained by the open source community. Here is the RPM package, however it doesn't come with any warranty: https://build.opensuse.org/package/show/home:guohouzuo/cde To run CDE: - Enable and start "rpcbind" service - a mandatory requirement for CDE. - Use LightDM as display manager - other DM may work but they are not tested. - Enter user credentials and choose "CDE" desktop in the dropdown list. More on the history oc CDE: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Common_Desktop_Environment Screenshot: http://susepaste.org/73324945 Have a nice long weekend ahead.
