Hi Larry,
I can't see any problem, the kernel modules are up to date for me and I've launched one of my guest OS successfully in VirtualBox 5.0.18_SUSE r106667 after 'zypper dup' to TW 20160508.
I think you have installed VB from some repo other than openSUSE OSS. The Oracle version rebuilds the kernel modules when called. If you use VB from the openSUSE repository, that module rebuild code has been stripped, thus the correct modules must come through openSUSE. The problem mostly shows up with TW guests. The KDE version will only have a 640 x 480 screen, and X with Gnome will fail to start gdm.
