Same with an advice to add {1915.semaphores=0 i915.enable_rc6=0) as boot option. Since grub2 I am totally lost at editing boot options. Need some practical help there.
Similarly there's a "Boot Loader" module in YaST2, the "Kernel Parameters" are in the second tab and you want to change/set the "Optional Kernel Command Line Parameter" field. Or you can edit settings dynamically at boot from the grub2 editor, or directly in the grub2 config heirarchy - there are commented warnings in files that get overwritten by yast/bootloader/kernel updates during a zypper update.
Thanks Daniel, Was finaly able to edit the bootloader and was able to insert the i915 thingy in the boot options. For the first time since a good two weeks I did not find my computer frozen at the startup of the day. Hope the temporary file keeps up it good work until the kernel boys have found a final solution. -- Linux User 183145 using KDE4 Tumbleweed on a Pentium IV , powered by openSUSE 20160208 (x86_64) Kernel: 4.4.1-3.g2b16688-default KDE Development Platform: 4.14.16 08:23am up 14:17, 2 users, load average: 0.50, 0.42, 0.33 -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
