References please - As an active member of the review team I am pretty sure that having build conditions for other distros in the package are no decline reason. Just as special conditions to build differently on PM for example are no decline reason. For arguments sake: check out libzypp.spec: it is filled with fedora_version. Squid also has checks for fedora_version. Si I dare say: this claim is false.
* Newer Versions than on Distro are welcome. Which lowers the pressure to get things into Distro, gives extra testing, should make getting approval for Distro / Factory easier, if proven good in this repo.
I for one will refuse all bugs coming from replaced libaries that people feel have to go into any such contrib repo - if the bug can't be reproduced without "Contrib" there is no bug for me.
## Why should (open)SUSE enable such a repo? ##
* To get to the point where a normal user has four (4) repos max active, or even installed at all: 1. Distro (Frozen Gold) 2. Distro Update 3. Packman (for Multimdia, codecs, stuff not legally possible in Distro) 4. "ExtraPackages Repo"
Plus the Google Chrome repo, plus Adobes Repo, Plus... A noble goal, but getting the packages ion a decent quality into the distro makes the number by one less. If you anyway 'force' PM on the users: why not use it as contrib (it's scope is way beyond Multimedia anyway) Cheers, Dominique -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
