Hello, I think the original question was basically whether or not OBS should enable building packages for the newest openSUSE distribution in an automated way (i.e. "by default"). I think manually enabling building of selected packages for the newest openSUSE distribution is and was always o.k. Nevertheless an addendum FYI: On Nov 12 14:17 Michal Kubecek wrote (excerpt):
In my experience, most bugs in latest upstream version of a package can be also reproduced on older versions of a distribution. Not all of them but definitely a majority. So running newer versions of selected packages does in fact help Tumbleweed (and future releases).
I like to confirm this for "my" packages in the OBS "Printing" project. Cf. http://lists.opensuse.org/opensuse-factory/2015-10/msg00594.html FYI: Meanwhile epson-inkjet-printer-escpr-1.6.1 in OBS "Printing" provides PPD files for 467 printer models i.e. there are 81 more printer models available compared to Leap only via this single printer driver package.
