Hm. On top of what others have said about crud maybe plugging things
up, this paragraph suggests to me that your laptop may have crap for
bios, that you should perhaps look for an update.


Indeed that's something I hadn't thought of. But I updated that bios
the first time I had an issue with the fans (back then, it didn't
help, or at least not directly), and there has been no new version
since then.
