Yes I do misunderstand. I thought you were trying to set up a telnet server, when you should be using ssh. If it's someone else's server, then it's their problem. I really fail to understand the need for setting up a telnet server in this day & age. By all means, use a telnet client when you have to, but for your own servers, ssh is the way to go.
