I'm pretty sure I'm doing this backwards: instead of introducing on the list then submitting a request, I've submitted the request and now I'm introducing it to the list. The request is at: https://build.opensuse.org/request/show/197934 Basically, I gave my five year old daughter a linux box I had installed OpenSUSE 12.3 on. Because there was no decent media player for it, I had to do workarounds in order for her to listen to her music and watch her videos. Last month, I took the codecademy Python course and taught myself enough PyQT to create this program. It is a audio and video player designed specifically for children. It allows them to navigate their audio and video directories through the use of pictures: album artwork and video thumbnails for their selections and iconed buttons instead of menu entries. This way, a 4 or 5 year old who cannot read has complete ability to search through their own media and select something to play. You can see a video demo at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5s3ETtIGw7I and a few screenshots at: http://qt-apps.org/content/show.php?action=content&content=160528 Thank you for your consideration. Doudoulinux is interested in including this in their next major release, but both me and my daughter use OpenSUSE. I'd really like to see it here so as many kids as possible can benefit from my work. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org To contact the owner, e-mail: opensuse-factory+owner@opensuse.org
