Hi, I am sorry it look such a long time to write this email. During openSUSE 12.2 development we switched to jpeg-turbo as our libjpeg implementation. This has several reasons: - jpeg-turbo has SSE optimizations for baseline JPEG. - Its used by Google Chrome so it has many bugfixes (and security fixes). - And upstream libjpeg is getting more irrelevant everyday [1][2] Sadly I failed to communicate this properly. If your package fails due to this change I am willing to take a look and fix it.
