Hello, I have some troubles using lilo with the kernel kernel-default-3.1.rc7-3.1 that comes with 12.1 beta1. I run into the error: Fatal: Setup length exceeds 31 maximum; kernel setup will overwrite boot loader. When I increase verbose level to maximum I got information that it has 33 sectors, so is bigger then maximum. After some investigation I have found that other Linux distributions have run into this issue and the LILO development teem already corrected in the latest release: New LILO version 23.2 is released Posted by: Joachim Wiedorn Date: 2011-04-15 06:58 Summary:New LILO version 23.2 is released Project:LILO Linux Bootloader This new version now works with very new linux kernels (>= 2.6.36). Added some fixes for source code and manpages. Added new scripts liloconfig and lilo-uuid-diskid as used for Debian. Development Status : 4 - Beta : Environment : Console (Text Based) : Intended Audience : System Administrators : License : BSD License : Operating System : BSD : Linux : Programming Language : Assembly : C : Topic : Init : As we can see the 12.1 beta1 release uses lilo-22.8-66.4 I would kindly ask the responsible maintainer to include the latest lilo release into the upcoming opensuse releases.
