I can build jack (openSUSE jack-1.9.6 is jack2) with both the dbus and
classic interfaces and I've tested it with rosegarden and the classic
interface, which is the one that most apps use, still works with a
perceived slowdown but I get a warning from the build that it may not
work, so I left the classic only interface build. If someone is
to test every aspect of a dual interface jack, I will build it with
interfaces for them, in fact in the near future I will enquire
about this but atm I have too much on my plate
Bear in mind that jack is used by a large percentage of
and a few other apps, even graphics blender which I also maintain

have to be careful with what I do with it.
The other, very time consuming possibility is to create a parallel
package with dbus and no classic but possibly the next release will be
able to use both interfaces.

Thanks Dave,
I am willing to test your builds. I use jack quite a bit with one of
my main SDR programs. Until now I've been using a version I've built
myself in order to have jack_connect and friends. But I have now
changed to 1.9.6 in 11.4 Milestone4 which works fine without
suspending pulseaudio.
The one build I did with dbus didn't work, some problem with
/etc/dbus-1/, I think it was permissions.

# o dbus/

jack-1.9.6-61.3 and upwards in home:plater have both classic and dbus
interfaces enabled. Also all of the multimedia packages in the project
have built against it and all work (last time I tested them anyway),
don't know if it makes a difference but if you find a problem they are
there to eliminate one possibility. The repo is :
As stated before, I use rosegarden to test jack and rosegarden, which
only uses the classic interface, works with the dual interface jack. One
important factor, I haven't had pulse audio enabled since I have no need
for it.
Which packages do you know of that can use jack dbus?
Dave P

May be my misunderstanding, I thought that any application needing
jackd would be happy with jackdbus. I didn't know that appplications
needed to be jackdbus aware.

I tested jack with only dbus and no clasic on rosegarden and got no
audio whereas the dual and classic only jack worked. I then asked the
developers if rosegarden could use jack dbus and I got this reply "Not
to my knowledge." which I interpret as "I'm not even aware of jack
dbus". I need to do a bit of research on this and anything that you can
come up with will be appreciated.

When I configured SVN of jackmp for alsa and dbus, the binary produced was jackdbus. When I tried using jackdbus I got the dbus error message citing
