I usually work as a non-root user. But this time I was testing factory in a VM and so did not create any new user and decided to play with the root user.
However, once the machine is installed, the GDM screen just shows a small unclickable white line and there is no "Other" click-area, which I can click and login as root.
Of course I was able to goto control-alt-f2, create a new user and solve. But I believe this is a minor bug in GDM.
Is this worth reporting ?
I wouldn't think so. There isn't much point in running a login manager if there are none but the root user. Start in runlevel 3, login as root, and do startx when you need X. Or if GDM is like KDM, you can configure it to not hide the root user. -- "The wise are known for their understanding, and pleasant words are persuasive."
