Hi Sid; Cups working fine for me on openSUSE 11.2 & 11.3-M6. Hardware is Dell
Studio 1745 laptop with Brother HL-1440 connected via USB to parallel cable.

How did you install your printer, through Yast2 or from cli?

Should have added: Did you check Yast2 > > Services to see if cups daemon set
to run at startup?
