As much as I would like to claim "of course, because I would never make such a stupid mistake!!1!", I can't, simply because I'm not totally sure.
Will test on next reboot, whenever this machine crashes (wich is a very rare occurence lately) or a new kernel turns up for FACTORY (even more rare, it seems ;)
I finally rebooted, even though there was no new kernel in FACTORY (because I had updated everything else and KDE4 had made my .xsession-errors fill up my whole home partition... ;() With intel_agp loaded, while in init=/bin/sh, "modprobe radeon modeset=1" still fails, probably because the firmware loading through udev is not yet set up. I did not investigate further, nor did I dare putting radeon with modeset into my initrd ;) When booting to runlevel 3, I can "modprobe radeon modeset=1" and it gives me a nice 1400x1050 framebuffer, but it still flickers when switching to X. The xorg.log is pretty small, so I'll simply attach it, maybe you can see something from it. If you'd rather have a "proper" bugreport for this old and obsolete hardware, you just need to tell me. Have fun ;) seife -- Stefan Seyfried "Mit Außerirdischen, die nicht weiter gekommen sind als Microsoft und Apple, will ich persönlich nichts zu tun haben." -- Prof. Harald Lesch
