But you currently you can get a lot of dependency problems to solve. This needs to be improved a bit. Zypper 'up' automatically ignores all updates which are not installable or need user's decision, so it's currently more convenient to use 'zypper up' for this.
dependency problems don't come from zypper or yast, but from the repos and packages you're using. that's why i'm using yast from time to time: it's easier to see all dep. problems and sort them out. in zypper, from the CLI, that's less convenient.
Sure, but my point was, that with 'zypper up' you won't ever get a dependency problem - it'll automatically skip problematic updates; YaST will not. But to my knowledge, similar functionality will be provided also in YaST in the future. -- cheers, jano Ján Kupec YaST team ---------------------------------------------------------(PGP)--- Key ID: 637EE901 Fingerprint: 93B9 C79B 2D20 51C3 800B E09B 8048 46A6 637E E901 ---------------------------------------------------------(IRC)--- Server: irc.freenode.net Nick: jniq Channels: #zypp #yast #suse #susecz ---------------------------------------------------------(EOF)---
