Interesting "yast2 partitioner" is reporting "The partitioning on /dev/sda is unreadable ... by parted. ..."
Yet parted -l is having no problem.
# parted -l Model: ATA ST980815A (scsi) Disk /dev/sda: 80.0GB Sector size (logical/physical): 512B/512B Partition Table: msdos
Number Start End Size Type File system Flags 1 32.3kB 21.4GB 21.4GB primary ntfs type=07 2 21.4GB 23.5GB 2147MB primary ext2 boot, type=83 3 23.5GB 80.0GB 56.5GB extended lba, type=0f 5 23.5GB 25.7GB 2147MB logical linux-swap(v1) type=82 6 25.7GB 52.5GB 26.8GB logical ext3 type=83 7 52.5GB 80.0GB 27.5GB logical lvm, type=8e
So I now have two tools that are having unexpected troubles.
well, parted does not read my lvm and fdisk -l reports it: Disk /dev/dm-0: 536.9 GB, 536870912000 bytes 255 heads, 63 sectors/track, 65270 cylinders Units = cylinders of 16065 * 512 = 8225280 bytes Disk identifier: 0x00000000 Disk /dev/dm-0 doesn't contain a valid partition table how did you create the partition /dev/sda7? and it is already "lvm" ??
