Hello listmates,
I have just installed openSUSE 11.2 Milestone 5 on my laptop (Sony Vaio PCG- FR215M). Unfortunately, when it tries to start the X Window System, it freezes and the num lock and scroll lock leds start blinking. I have to hold the power key for a few secs to turn it off.
I have booted up on single user mode and ran sax2 -r Fatal server error: no screens found
Moreover, Xorg.log.0 says that (EE) No devices detected.
My laptop has an ATI graphics card. On openSUSE 11.1, Xorg.conf had BoardName "RS200 4337" Driver "radeon"
Try to find out the PCI ID for the card ('lspci, or even Xorg.0.log) and then put that in xorg.conf as option:
BusID "0:5:0"
Replace the 0:5:0 with result of lspci.
I didn't have a xorg.conf file until I ran sax manually, and the file it generated doesn't look good; it has many screen and device sections with vboxvideo, vmware, cirrus, vesa, etc.
The output of lspci is 01:05.0 VGA compatible controller: ATI Technologies Inc Radeon IGP 330M/340M/350M
I have forgotten the bug Daniele mentioned, so you can disregard my post. BTW, for the future the BusID would be: BusID "1:5:0" The lspci is just a bit verbose with zeros that BusID doesn't need. -- Regards, Rajko http://news.opensuse.org/category/people-of-opensuse/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
