Evidently Pulseaudio is designed to replace alsa and oss, but it has features to emulate both of them. Personally, I don't see the need for it for the majority of users, but it's evidently the wave of the future.
Pulse audio does not replace Alsa or OSS. Either Alsa or oss is needed for their hardware drivers. No Alsa or oss = no sound at all. Very strange. I hope we find an solution who are runs 2out of the Box". I think the Users would'nt like to surf to the "Perfect Setup".
