I have been trying to figure out what is going on with kicker while compiz is running on 4.3beta1.
It's not called kicker in KDE4. Now it's just a (plasma) panel.
It always strikes me as funny, that no matter what problems people have when using Compiz, they always instinctively blame the other component involved ;-)
If you don't want problems, use the native window manager. It's not like Compiz ever integrated well with KDE3 kicker either... :-(
Well, Not true; I have been using compiz with kde3 since the 0.5.2 days and kicker integrations wasn't a problem. In kde4 the problem looks more like a focus (window counting) issue than anything else. As for the kde4 desktop effects, they are getting there, but there is no replacement for 'expo' and the kde effect look ragged compared to the compiz counterparts. Now I wrote this thread not to debate the pluses or minuses of kde de verses compiz integration, but to get an answer as to what may be going on that is preventing the 'plasmoid' panel from unhiding. That's what I'm trying to find out. Anybody got an idea? What mother-focusing problem do we have here? -- David C. Rankin, J.D.,P.E.
