hi all,
anyone know a any changes regarding hibernation that happened between kernel 2.6.29 and 2.6.30? (or in the latest factory update)
my laptop hibernates fine, but when starting up again, it totally bypasses my grub. since I do dual boot the laptop, hibernation doesn't make any sense anymore.
When resuming from hibernation, you should never try to boot anything else. If your alternate boot does even a single write between hibernate and resume, you risk a total file system corruption. System after resume continues in its work, expecting that no change was done in kernel, coldplug hardware or data in time of sleeping. In my opinion, not allowing to boot anything else that you hibernated is a feature, that prevents users to damage their data. Note: I know nothing about the change that have been done. -- Best Regards / S pozdravem, Stanislav Brabec software developer --------------------------------------------------------------------- SUSE LINUX, s. r. o. e-mail: sbrabec@suse.cz Lihovarská 1060/12 tel: +420 284 028 966, +49 911 740538747 190 00 Praha 9 fax: +420 284 028 951 Czech Republic http://www.suse.cz/ -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
