Maybe they should fire the linux department :-P
NOT a chance! Further, it may be your view, but I can assure you, it's NOT the view of management.
Bad management :-P
Nope........this agency runs VERY efficiently with low numbers of IT staff and has for sometime.
This problem of externals modules reminds me of a presentation I was told recently to watch:
http://www.linuxjournal.com/content/greg-kroah-hartman-linux-kernel-video
Interesting.
It lasts 45 minutes, you can't have watched it yet.
I watched all I needed to see for now. I'll watch all of it when I have time.
We can place blame for why things aren't as they should be for a long time. What needs to happen to to NOT make excuses and place blame elsewhere, but learn from crap like this and do whatever it take to see to it we don't have a repeat performance!! Linux hasn't gained hardly any market share on MickySoft over the past 2 yrs. Why not? The answer is EASY!! Linux MUST, MUST be easily installable and work EASILY out-of-the-box. If not, then who knows what will happen to Linux and those companies who have so much invested in it as the niche market is eroded even further by the "Evil Empire."
I have the personal rule of not encouraging to use linux to people that are not really prepared to use it, making an effort. Not individuals, not businesses.
More, I don't want linux to be terribly easy, I don't see a real advantage in that for me.
Linux CAN be "all to all people." It just isn't there yet. Well, I know a number who have that attitude....isolationism and elitism. I don't.
I hint that they could try it, and make clear the advantages and disadvantages. I don't want they get scared at the first problem and come crying to me, or worse, to others, "that linux is a very bad thing".
'Never had that happen and don't plan to either.
If they are really convinced linux is good for them, good! If they are not convinced, I will not push them. Not unless they have professional support and are really commited.
I don't encourage those who have very limited skills. If they can install 'Bloze well, then can install Linux.
So, if those friends of yours do not want suse because of this "contrariety", my opinion is "Good Riddance!". I'm happier without them.
That's ignorant......sorry, but it is.
And you should be happier, too. Something or other would have failed sooner or later and they would blame you. They are not prepared to really use linux.
Carlos, you really don't have a clue.
