I have installed from the DVD. The vmware-kmp-default was not installed during the install. After the install finished, I enabled the online repositories, and then it appeared as suggested update in yast, and I installed it.
It did not pre-select open-vm-tools though, that's why I was not aware for it's existence. I'll try as soon as possible, and will report back.
Btw, I really agree that these 2 packages should be on the install media, and even pre-selected for install if the necessary conditions are met.
OK, I installed open-vm-tools, and enabled the vmware-guest service.
Now, the behavior is very strange - it kind of works, i.e. the screen is resized, but not the wallpaper and the task bar. So, if I open an application, and resize it to fir to screen, it will cover the whole screen, but the taskbar will sit in the middle of the screen over everything.
As I use KDE4, I guess this has something to do with plasma.
Can somebody confirm, taht vmware-guest works OK with kde3 and gnome, so I can file a bug against KDE4.
I lose the panel if I change full screen/other views. Then "Konfigure desktop > theme > default > apply brings it back. Then I can change back to "Aya" (which actually is the default after installation) If I change the size again, configure again as above.
You were actually on KDE4 in this case, right? If so, there is a bug filed against it. It's not a bug from open-vm-tools. Actually, all (or at least many) methods of resizing the screen show this issue, like using the nvidia tools, maybe even the screen resolution switcher. https://bugzilla.novell.com/show_bug.cgi?id=391800 Dominique --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
