i'm net-installing OpenSuse-factory booting from, # 05/15/08 13:26:19 ftp://mirrors.kernel.org/opensuse/distribution/SL-OSS-factory/inst-source/boot/boot.iso on an AMD X86_64 box w/ 8GB RAM. following instructions, "How to install openSUSE on software RAID" http://en.opensuse.org/How_to_install_SUSE_Linux_on_software_RAID i custom partition sda1/sdb1 100MB, primary part, LinuxRAID (File System ID 0xFD) sda2/sdb2 10GB , primary part, LinuxRAID (File System ID 0xFD) sda3/sdb3 * , primary part, LinuxRAID (File System ID 0xFD) create 3 RAID arrays /dev/md0 = sda1 + sdb1 RAID-1, format = ext3, mount = /boot /dev/md1 = sda2 + sdb2 RAID-1, LVM PV, no format, no mount /dev/md2 = sda3 + sdb3 RAID-1, LVM PV, no format, no mount then, create 2VGs vg_0, Physical Extent = 32M vg_u, Physical Extent = 32M and LVs, vg_0: l_swap -> (swap), swap, 512MB vg_0: l_root -> /, ext3, * vg_u: (empty) i proceed to install BASE INSTALLATION ENHANCED BASE CONSOLE YAST SYSTEM ADMINISTRATION YAST INSTALLATION PACKAGE SOFTWARE MANAGEMENT X WINDOW SYSTEM FONTS XFCE DESKTOP ENVIRONMENT NETWORK ADMINISTRATION XEN VIRTUAL MACHINE HOST SERVER BASE DEVELOPMENT C/C++ DEVELOPMENT RPM BUILD ENVIRONMENT LINUX KERNEL and continue through installation with no errors. @ completion, i reboot and end up at a text console prompt GRUB> with no grub menu. reading here, http://fixunix.com/suse/326602-grub-error-23-opensuse-10-3-raid-disk.html i exec, GRUB> find /boot/grub/stage1 which returnns, (hd0,0) (hd1,0) then either, GRUB> kernel (hd0,0)/vmlinux GRUB> initrd (hd0,0)/initrd GRUB> boot or, GRUB> kernel (hd1,0)/vmlinux GRUB> initrd (hd1,0)/initrd GRUB> boot *does* continue to boot, but i get dropped into a text/console-based YAST installer ... no further. any suggestions as to what might be the problem? thanks! --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
