Which implies (to me) that my DVD media is at fault, not the writers.

The DVD writers being produced are substandard. I have only one, the oldest, that produces good disks. I wasted many that way. One I produced only worked on the same box, but wouldn't on the others. That one was exchanged after I had trouble with the previous one on different motherboards. I read somewhere (LKML?) that a guy had problems with +R's, the -R's worked fine, but I have seen problems with both. Regards Sid. -- Sid Boyce ...
