Sbrabec informed us about recent development. Many technical and legal issues with the proposal are now solved. The wiki page http://en.opensuse.org/SUSE_Package_Conventions/Branding should always contain up-to-date information. (2) Interesting xscreensaver bug Sbrabec also talked about a security issue with xscreensaver on certain systems, that can be exploited in an interesting way: the attacker needs to unplug the computer's network cable at least 600 but no longer than 603 seconds before user logs in. If the attacker can achieve this, the nscd login cache expires in exactly the right moment and the user can log in, but xscreensaver will not start, preventing the user from locking his screen. (3) Packaging project for SoC One student expressed interest in one of our Google Summer of Code ideas, so openSUSE will have a packagers' project in SoC. It is called "New approach for (RPM) packages creation" and described here: http://en.opensuse.org/Summer_of_Code_2008#New_approach_for_.28RPM.29_packag... ===== Status Reports: anicka: - - openssh: update to 5.0p1 - - pciutils: update to 3.0.0 - - ocaml: fix build for tk 8.5, update to 3.10.2 - - mrtg, sleuth, perl modules: update to current versions - - cfengine, bacula: investigate new versions, decided to stick with ~ the old ones anosek: - - fixed gpm #307209 - - fixed java-1.6.0-sun-* provides and directories names - - adjusting eclipse spec file - - getting ready for Linux Expo jmatejek: - - updating: ~ * python-twisted 8.0.1 (changes to subpackages will follow) ~ * python-gnome 2.22.0 ~ * python-gtk 2.12.1 lmichnovic: Installed Alpha 3+, reported some bugs.
