For info # My problem / situation I added a Promise Technology SATA 300 TX2plus card to an existing installation of 10.3 on an old Tyan Tiger MPX (S2466) in order to use a new Seagate ST31000340NS Barracuda ES.2 1TB SATA 7200RPM hard drive that I had just bought. openSUSE recognized the new drive when I booted up and I ran yast2 and formated it ext3 (931 Go) with no problems The new Seagate ST31000340NS Barracuda ES.2 1TB tested OK with hdparm (75.74 MB/sec) but when I tried to copy files (say 10 Go + by line command) from a Seagate ST3750640A 750 Go PATA hard drive to the new Seagate ST31000340NS Barracuda ES.2 sata drive running off the Promise Technology SATA 300 TX2plus card my computer would freeze up after a few minutes. # Solution # I re installed 10.2 with the Promise Technology SATA 300 TX2plus card and the Seagate ST31000340NS Barracuda ES.2 1TB *** already installed **** no more problem # I re installed 10.3 (which which has spoilte to 10.2) with the Promise Technology SATA 300 TX2plus card and the Seagate ST31000340NS Barracuda ES.2 1TB *** already installed **** no more problem. End of problem voilà et voilà Regards James --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, e-mail: opensuse-factory+unsubscribe@opensuse.org For additional commands, e-mail: opensuse-factory+help@opensuse.org
