a) package manager update: worked perfectly, including the YOU restart
I can't say the same... I got a Abort/Skip dialog during the update. The details concerned a "no such file for libzypp". It looks like http://mirrors.kernel.org/suse/update/10.2 had an incomplete status. Selecting Skip was a mistake as YOU continued to load other patches, such as zypper, et.c that are dependent on the new libzypp library. YOU then hung. I assume when it tried to restart.
I had assumed that the Skip would have skipped all patches that where dependent on libzypp. Is this a valid assumption?
Unfortunately, this breaks the entire package management stack. Zypper, opensuse-updater, YOU all complain about the missing libzypp.so.208 library.
Manually installing the new libzypp-2.8.1 gets things going again... Now to see how it handles the kernel and the kmps...
