Might sound a bit emotional, but the "parse-metadata" problem turns 10.1 into a virtually unusable desktop for my customers (and me) really. In certain server setups it might be acceptable that the system needs up to 30 minutes after reboot before giving full power to the users. But on a desktop?
We cannot confirm this behaviour.
parse-metadata occassionaly leads to a slow down, but only a minute at most and not on bootup.
It's an often reported bug on the Hungarian SUSE mailing list, so I can confirm this behavior. AFAIK it's a problem on slower machines, and comes combined with beagle. But 'parse-metadata' is the most often reported resource hog.
You are overblowing the issue.
I think, he is right for slower machines, but it's a non issue on recent machines (max 2 years old).

Is there any functionality lost this way? I know, that the update icon from the tray will be gone, which is a positive change for me :-) Anything else? Bye, CzP -- CzP http://peter.czanik.hu/
