So today I had a chance to watch Zen (and Mono) in action while attempting to update to factory. Current install reflects factory somewhere between beta 6 and beta 7, so let me know if anything has changed regarding performance since then. This is also running at the CLI. While tracking memory and cpu usage, there were two Zen/Mono processes; zen itself, and the query. With 256MB on the system, from boot there was roughly 25mb in use on the swap drive, and roughly 130mb in use of physical ram. X was the biggest hog, eating up 64mb. Once Mono came up, my usage increased drastically. Zen was roughly 96mb, with the query running an additional 113mb. At its peak, Zen was at 132mb, and the query was at 144mb of memory used. CPU usage was, admittedly, less than I thought it would be; however, that isn't to say it was light. My P4 1.4ghz processor had about 60% usage between those two processes, which is rather high imho, for the duration of the attempted update. Now, while the system is somewhat limited being a 1.4ghz proc with 256mb ram, thats a fairly adequate system. This is precisely the kind of usage I was worried about at the start of all this. I ended up stopping the update because of the usage I was seeing.. it was locking up my laptop. Joseph M. Gaffney aka CuCullin
