Anyway, while I'd successfully set it to be the default JVM and setup the FireFox plugins and whatnot, I didn't know about this jexec thing. I removed the /usr/java/latest symlink to /usr/java/jre_1.6.0_11 and replaced it with one pointing to /usr/lib64/jvm/jre_1.6.0_12 This fixed the problem on my computer. Hope this helps! this really helped me a lot!!! thanx!!! http://forums.opensuse.org/get-help-here/install-boot- login/402087-11-1-hangs-first-boot-2.html 11.1 Hangs on first boot Ok here's how I solved this if anyone else has the same problem. I thought I would not be able to mount the drive in read/write mode from a live cd, but I booted from a Kubuntu livecd I had laying around, went to /etc/init.d/ and deleted the jexec and vmware scripts there, and voila, the system boots now.
