Hi Jordi
I see: pointing users to the patterns isn't enough - nobody cares
about them...

Just a hint. If you want to create YaST modules that appear during the installation when selecting the opensuse edu you can "easily" do that by:
1- Write ycp module (obvious :) )
ok.
2- make an rpm from that is installed on the system (quite obvious too :) )
ok - but this rpm should be installed _bevore_ the education repo is added, right?
3- modify the control.xml on the installed system (not so obvious, but that is the trick :) )
That can be done by a installation.xml on the add on media. The installation.xml allows to change the complete installation workflow of the main product. (FYI: for 11.0 I always added such an installation.xml to increase the root partition.) We also can provide a y2update.tgz file in the root of the add on media, which contains the yast module - and this module is included in the installation workflow via installation.xml.
I am not sure which is the better way to modify this file, or if the addon yast module does that for you. Actually, that might be the best way, by making the addon yast module do that if it does not already. If you do that, send the patch to the yast people so they integrate it for you at the next versions.
Adding James "wishlist", I think: - create an additional yast module - integrate it during first installation But what about users who add the education repo in an installed system? ...I think I've seen something which allows to start a yast2 module right when the repository is added. But - if I remember correctly - this was only to start the registration module... Other option: provide just the "one-click install" ymp - and neither patterns nor other stuff in the online repo - but that wouldn't fix the media problem... Any suggestions?
