Can only speak for Viglen, but their software is a pain... I use Webmin to configure each SuSE/RedHat server, works really well. Rest is done by Windows machines at the moment. Has anyone any experience in using Print Queues and autodownloading the driver with Win2000 from Linux using Webmin? Try webmin: http://www.webmin.com/ - that should take care of a lot of your requirements. You might also want to consider thin client Linux (particularly a rather nice little solution to be called Nymph (?)), even if you retain Windows for must-have software that won't function in any other way. Thin client makes package roll-out painless (just the servers!), obviates the need for any serious desktop protection solution (only affects that user, rather than that computer, and the user profile can be rebuilt in minutes) and makes home/school access a reality. RM and Viglen are a pain in the proverbial... (just guessing!) Hi, Are there any software vendor in the industry that sells linux based workstation administration software? I am aware that we can have a linux PDC and use SAMBA to connect windows workstations. I am looking for an administration software that can manage users' desktop, remotely install the software packages, creating and deleting users, managing print queues, set up topics etc. At the moment the school is still using NT4.0 and the administration software packages is supplied by a PLC company that specialise in School network. It would be great to get out of NT4.0 and get into Linux. Look forward to hearing from you. -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: suse-linux-uk-schools-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands, e-mail: suse-linux-uk-schools-help@suse.com -- To unsubscribe, e-mail: suse-linux-uk-schools-unsubscribe@suse.com For additional commands, e-mail: suse-linux-uk-schools-help@suse.com
