If memory serves me right they started quite innocently supplying z80 based controller units into UNIs and other labs in the Oxford area in the heady days of home brew machines. I thought that they had died out many years ago and was surprised to find that they were still going strong. I don't think that ANY company especially a PLC should have government backing to sell anything into schools - their wallets, sorry, hearts aren't in the right place! <SNIP> RM (originally) stood for Research Machines - I believe they are just RM PLC now. They specialise in the supply of really expensive ICT solutions for education, particularly schools. Almost entirely MS, with the exception of their new proxy server, which is Squid. See: </SNIP>
