What's mostly needed is the ability to lockout individual pupils from the Internet based on their 'User Login Name' and at particular times of the day (during ICT and other lessons) rather than on the basis of locking out a particular PC machine. I was wondering if there is any way of setting up Internt Explorer or Netscape so that application checks for a file on the server or a cookie (held in the user account area) that has to be present in order for the browser to access the Internet at large? Use an ident server to tell squid who the user is, then use acls to block the user. For easier configuration use squidGuard Fo easier management of squidGuard use the webmin module. Rob
