I have received my 'official' copy of SuSE 7.3 and have installed it on the server machine.
I have tried to configure a DHCP server. I have followed the instructions in the manual and get a positive response to the rcdhcp start command - but whenever a client machine logs on to the network, no IP address is issued.
What is in your /etc/dhcpd.conf file. Also are you getting any messages about DHCP in /var/log/messages?
I must be doing something very basic incorrectly - even if I fix the IP address - I can't ping the server. (It isn't a hardware problem and I have tested all the hardware successfully.
In which case either the hardware isn't connected correctly together or you havn't enabled the ethernet card on the server. What are the outputs of ifconfig and route -v ? -- Mark Evans St. Peter's CofE High School Phone: +44 1392 204764 X109 Fax: +44 1392 204763
