1) Is it legitimate to "cache" pages from websites locally on an Intranet server?
A quick question - do you mean cache or mirror?
Yes, we too thought of mirroring certain commonly used sites. However it's an administrator's job, and administrators are usually busy people. The advantage of caching is that it's an invisible process; you don't set up anything special, but recently used pages will be delivered to anyone who wants them. Therefore we looked at mirroring and decided to forget it. I suggest you whack in a proxy and give it a lot of space to put its stuff in. Should be able to run proxy, NAT and firewall on one machine if you're pushed for space. -- ******************************************************************************** All mail sent and received may be examined to prevent transmission of inappropriate attachments and certain obscenities.
