I was sure that I had seen a Linux for ARM based machines... and I had. Go to http://www.arm.uk.linux.org/ - the home page of ARM Linux. Among the machines it supports: Archimedies A5000 RiscPC RiscStation etc. (and those are the ones that I know of!) I have not tried to install this (the last time I laid eyes on an Acorn was five years ago). Looking at the installation instructions I must say that it looks complicated! By the way, RiscBSD is not Linux, it is BSD. There are differences! Mark New ----- Find me in the Edgehill College IT Department. If I'm not there, then I'm either asleep, eating or being ill.

hi
you mention X servers for Acorn's, what about Linux? and could you boot an Acorn machine (if you had a few, like 200) as thin clients from a Intel-based survey? should be able to i'm sure. seen RiscBSD, any others ?
BETT was interesting, couple more Linux appliances around, also Fen Systems, a 'small' start-up offering 'middleweight' clients (not thin). I'm running a sweepstake for the number of academic providers > offering:-
1. Linux servers- 2. Linux-based appliances 3. Linux clients 4. Abingdon-based companies with their own Linux distributions :-)
sealed bids to me by 31st January, winner gets > a copy of Red Hat 8
