[This answer is based solely on what I've seen and read - I have no experience] Samba supports the changing of the unix password to mirror the Windows one by using the 'password program =' and 'password chat = ' parameters. Also, using NIS and yppasswd (linked to passwd?) you can change the NIS password just like changing a local one. In theory, there should be nothing to prevent linking the two so that when a user changes their windows password, the NIS password mirrors the change. Thanks for all the suggestions.
What's the minimum spec I would need for a standalone NIS server?
Would this approach allow clients (all Win9X and NT) to change their passwords in a similar way to samba or would all password changes need to be made centrally(so to speak)?
